The shop sure feels a lot quieter without Paul Jr. around, but Sr. and Jr. are reunited with Mikey on Larry King Live. Larry opens up on them a bit and talks a little bit about there family history; Sr’s drinking problem, and even Mikey’s new artwork endeavor. While on-air Mikey even gives Larry a portrait he painted of the King… with lock jaw. It seemed like Larry enjoyed everything about it. Well…maybe not the lockjaw bit. It was nice to see them reunited, but Paul Jr. is still insistent on moving forward with his company, Paul Jr. Designs. This reunion was the first time they all sat down together since the blowout in the shop.
Back in the shop the band is preparing a design for the OCC Band Bike. Sr. comes in on the action and has a ton of suggestions, as usual. When Jason, the designer gets involved with the design, Sr. ends up taking the design and completely changes it. Jason the designer washes his hands from the project and lets the team move forward on their own. Paul Sr. takes it old school, and designs from the head, and manages to get the entire band involved in the build; many of them not involved with building bikes on the day to day.
Paul Jr. is promoting his new company out in Tulsa, OK at a progressive church. It’s the first time he is able to do some publicity all on his own. As he signs autographs, there are nothing but questions about his involvement with OCC. He reiterates his commitment to starting Paul Jr. Designs on his own.
With young Mikey out of a job he focuses in on his artwork, and his brother, Paul Jr. is there to help see his passion through. Together they work on a plan to get his artwork into the market. His work has an interesting flavor to it that can only truly be identified as Mikey’s.
In the end, the band bike comes out as one of the most unique builds that OCC has ever done. They extend the swing arm an additional 10 inches giving the bike a real long, dragster kind of look. The paint job features some very dark skull designs; one of the first paint design choices of it’s kind for the company.
The episode shows a lot of hope for Paul Sr., Paul Jr., and Mikey, but more as separate entities. It seems that they are all getting comfortable in their own shoes, and with their own ventures. The question still remains; will Paul Jr. design bikes for OCC again? For now, the three are happy discovering business on their own.
