RECAP: Street Customs – Skate Van

If you’re looking for a custom ride, people know where to find Ryan and his West Coast Customs.  It isn’t surprising that while Vans was designing an apparel line for him they asked for one favor; can you build us a van with a halfpipe in it?  As challenging as the concept may be, it would be unlike Ryan to turn the job down.  Not only does he and his team have to make the wacky idea a reality, but they also have to perform in just 14 days.

Vans delivers an old Mercedes van.  Rusted, trashed, and barely running, they get the van and start stripping it.  Ryan decides to go with a clear roof so you can see the skaters thrashing the ramp from the inside.  It isn’t long before Ryan realizes that his team miscalculated the measurings for the window, and during install the top clear window is cracked because of it.  The team finds a solution to remedy the situation and the build moves forward on schedule as planned.

The van is delivered on time for Vans clothing and Ryan proves himself once again, as a master of custom car design.

RECAP: American Chopper – OCC Band Bike

The shop sure feels a lot quieter without Paul Jr. around, but Sr. and Jr. are reunited with Mikey on Larry King Live.  Larry opens up on them a bit and talks a little bit about there family history; Sr’s drinking problem, and even Mikey’s new artwork endeavor.  While on-air Mikey even gives Larry a portrait he painted of the King… with lock jaw.  It seemed like Larry enjoyed everything about it.  Well…maybe not the lockjaw bit.  It was nice to see them reunited, but Paul Jr. is still insistent on moving forward with his company, Paul Jr. Designs.  This reunion was the first time they all sat down together since the blowout in the shop.

Back in the shop the band is preparing a design for the OCC Band Bike.  Sr. comes in on the action and has a ton of suggestions, as usual.  When Jason, the designer gets involved with the design, Sr. ends up taking the design and completely changes it.  Jason the designer washes his hands from the project and lets the team move forward on their own.  Paul Sr. takes it old school, and designs from the head, and manages to get the entire band involved in the build; many of them not involved with building bikes on the day to day.

Paul Jr. is promoting his new company out in Tulsa, OK at a progressive church.  It’s the first time he is able to do some publicity all on his own.  As he signs autographs, there are nothing but questions about his involvement with OCC.  He reiterates his commitment to starting Paul Jr. Designs on his own.

With young Mikey out of a job he focuses in on his artwork, and his brother, Paul Jr. is there to help see his passion through.  Together they work on a plan to get his artwork into the market.  His work has an interesting flavor to it that can only truly be identified as Mikey’s.

In the end, the band bike comes out as one of the most unique builds that OCC has ever done.  They extend the swing arm an additional 10 inches giving the bike a real long, dragster kind of look.  The paint job features some very dark skull designs; one of the first paint design choices of it’s kind for the company.

The episode shows a lot of hope for Paul Sr., Paul Jr., and Mikey, but more as separate entities.  It seems that they are all getting comfortable in their own shoes, and with their own ventures.  The question still remains; will Paul Jr. design bikes for OCC again?  For now, the three are happy discovering business on their own.

RECAP: The Ultimate Fighter – Voices in My Head

This week’s episode opens with the comedy act of Coach Rashad as he talks about the first fight that Coach Rampage had in the UFC.  They later compare knockouts, and end up in each others face.  If it weren’t for their teams between them I would put the coaches in the octagon this episode.  Rashad got one step closer to that when he decides to take off one of his shoes, later threatening to stick it up Rampage’s… well you get the point.

Rashad’s team has 6 consecutive wins which puts them in front to choose the next fight.  Matt “Meathead” Mitrione, the ex-NFL player vs. Scott Junk.  Rampage has a lot of hope in Scott Junk and considers him to be the team’s strongest fighter.  Scott has competed as a fighter before whereas Matt will be new to the octagon.

Things in the house escalate as Matt the Meathead listens and gets distracted with the voices in his brain.  Rashad tries to keep Meathead in line mentally, and tries to keep him focused on the task at hand, winning the fight.  Matt even mentions that he fights to stop the voices in his head.  Fighting is his peaceful place, but can he deliver.

During training those little voices in Matt’s head open up and he starts sparing at full capacity when he is told to keep it at 60%.  It isn’t long before he’s spitting out his mouthpiece, and ready to go full force with his sparring partner, and fellow teammate, Jon Madsen.  This incident only leads to many of his teammates beginning to not like Matt the Meathead.  Matt experiences tough mental times at the house when he separates himself from all the fighters for a late game of basketball.  Wes Sims from Team Rampage even tries to make him crack by dressing up like a ninja and playing fun and games with Matt.  Matt isn’t biting the bait.

It’s fight day, and Matt has told Coach Rashad that the voices have left his head and he’s ready to dance.  Scott, is pumped and ready, and Team Rampage is confident that Scott will bring home a victory.  The bell rings and the fighters bang it out in 2 scheduled 5 minute rounds.  It’s a stand up fight throughout and both fights take some brutal blows.  The fight goes to decision and Matt Matrione is named the winner.  Rampage is so upset with the decision that he rips off the door to the gym and breaks it in half.  I wonder what Dana had to say about that.  Stay tuned!

RECAP: Ghost Hunters – Rocky Mountain Hauntings

The Native American word “manitou” actually means “spirit”.  Not farfetched for Jason and Grant, the Ghost Hunters.  Yesterday’s episode titled, Rocky Mountain Hauntings, brought our team to Manitou Springs, CO to investigate the Briarhurst Manor.

The manor itself is a 14,000 square foot compound that was built in the 1800’s.  The manor recently received the runner-up award in the Great American Ghost Hunter competition.  TAPS arrives on a rainy evening.  They are given a tour by Tammila Wright, an employee of the manor.  As they go from room to room she begins to describe all the paranormal events that have been noted by their guests and clients.  Random voices and footsteps might be noted as scary in its own right, but what about seeing a skeleton woman, or a little red-headed girl playing outside in the yard.  The TAPS team are in for quite a night.

Lights out and the team begins to investigate.  The ghost hunters scatter throughout the manor to try and capture some sort of paranormal evidence.  It isn’t long into this show that we begin to realize that something could be happening in this manor.  Jason and Grant are in the carpeted foyer and they start hearing some sort of creaking sound.  How could a creaking sound happen on a carpeted flooring?  Their investigations take them to the 2nd floor above the foyer where they discover a little door that leads into an attic.  Earlier in the episode Tammila describes that on rainy days, the children would play in the attic; the wood-floored attic.  As Jason and Grant explore the attic they find a loose floorboard that generates the same creaking sound they heard when in the foyer.  If this isn’t enough to give you chills down your spine, they later discover footstep sounds coming from the attic, a little girls voice, and even an older man humming a small tune.

There discoveries were quite frightening for the TAPS team, but they did debunk a few of Tammila’s paranormal stories.  Tammila mentioned a “bloody wall” that once bubbled up and started spewing out a red colored substance.  Luckily Jason and Grant are plumbers and later discover a possible pipe leak and a jug of red substance in an upstairs bathroom that lines up with the “bloody wall.”  I’m sure Jason and Grant could fix that pipe.

Overall it was a successful night for the TAPS team.  They discovered some activity that could not be explained and Tammila kept the doors open for future investigations.  Maybe next time they’ll capture footage of the skeleton woman and the little red-haired girl.  Stay tuned!

Airplane Repo is close to hitting the tarmac.

Don’t count the Variety out when they mention us as the producer of Airplane Repo.  The show has been in the works since attaining the rights, and things are shaping up quickly.  As Craig mentioned in the Variety article, we could be dealing with anything from big 747’s to small planes anywhere in the world.

So how do you get the cameras to follow such a covert task?  Well I’m not so sure we can give that away just yet, but we are using some of the most sophisticated technologies to make sure our cameras, and production team come back safely.  This show will put you directly on the tarmac and into the pilots seat as Popovich’s team undergoes its intricate plot to attain the unattainable.

Popovich himself has been jailed, and held at gunpoint.  Through it all he and his team have managed to make some huge repos; one including an organized 24 hour “theft” of 240 helicopters from a flight school.  It’s a normal day for him.  Stay tuned!
